Entrainment of all kinds based on the principle of harmonics, described in physics. Harmonics is the tendency for any two oscillating objects to lock phase with one another, so that they vibrate in harmony, a principle called resonance.

Many of you have seen harmonic resonance demonstrated, using two tuning forks. If you strike one of them, the second tuning fork will begin to vibrate at the same frequency even though it has not been touched at all.

Our brains produce waves that have distinct frequencies.

Stimulating the brain with audio and visual impulses will produce harmonics in brainwaves the same way they do in organic matter such as crystals or in the tuning forks.

Specifically designed visual and audio tracks can produce oscillating pulses and patterns of neural excitations that ripple through our brains much like never-ending waves rippling in a dynamic mental energy pond.

Our choices of the best brain hemisphere synchronizing methods all are featured posts on this blog, click on the headline after the image to view the post.

BrainSalon Brain Wave CDs Promise to Change the Way You Feel in 30 Minutes or Less

BrainSalon is a radically new brain wave change audio series that promises to simplify the process of mind transformation. Software publisher IQ Mindware (which has no relationship with this website past their choice of names) has released a new version of this brain-training program HiIQ Pro, which I introduced to readers of this blog in a November 2011 post.

Some of the new features in the new version of the software include multimedia and a HighIQPro Hall of Fame where you can compare your scores with other users.

But another new addition that caught my attention was that the program now comes with an guarantee that says that if you use the software for 20 days, just 20 minutes a day and:

Fail to increase your measured memory score by 40%

Fail to increase your IQ by at least 10 points

They will refund the price of your purchase in full with no quibbles.

This is a classic win-win situation. If you get a better memory and higher IQ, then it is certainly worth the low cost of the program’s license. If you fail to achieve the reach the lofty improvements promised, you are out no money, and most likely you have improved your mental performance anyway.

Find out more by visiting the IQ Mindware website.

Technorati code SPG8SPRGE954

The price was over $4,300.

Given the state of technology back in 1981, the Apple was pretty advanced, but I do not think I would have ever learned to use it, if Apple did not make it as easy as possible, by packaging it so well, making all the parts modular, and giving such a great manual and tutorials along with it.

From the Apple IIe, I graduated to one of those early Macintosh computers and continued to use it for all my personal work for the next 14 years.

In 1988, I started Mindware, a company dedicated to selling self-improvement, personal-development and creativity-enhancement software programs in a colorful catalog. At that time, the computer using world had tilted toward the IBM PC and its clones, and so much of the software that the company sold ran in good old MS-DOS. The Macintosh software was a lot more graphically engaging but the market for Mac software was on a steep path of decline that would last into the first decade of the Twenty-First Century.

I needed to review these primitive mindware programs, so I bought a Compaq portable that ran them. The Compaq could also run the early Windows programs, and slowly, the programs for the PC became more interesting and useful.

Those were pioneering days for the software industry, and so there were thousands of programs that fit into the Mindware niche, enough so that my catalog grew from a 20 page black and white booklet with a color cover, to a 64 page full-sized color magazine filled to over brimming with mindware goodness.

<img border="0" wp-image-4834" title="mindware_catalogs" src="http://mindwareforum.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/mindware_catalogs.png" alt="mindware software catalog" width="470" height="464" />

When the company got me a state-of-the-art Pentium PC, in 1994, I switched to PC from MAC. The PC was not quite as user-friendly as the MAC, but by then, almost everyone was using them.

With the advent of the Internet in the mid-Nineties, Mindware evolved into the Mind Media website and the Mindware Forum blog. When I started the Mindware Forum in 2003, I found a steady stream of new software for Windows, and over time an increasing number of Macintosh programs reflecting the Mac’s new found popularity.

Having spent years learning the geeky skill-set needed to operate a Windows PC, I found myself in the camp of those who thought Macintosh users were part of a religious movement, the cult of the Mac, rather than as people who used a different kind of technology.

About five yeas ago, after watching the famous Mac switch commercials, I developed a case of Mac envy. I broke down and added a dual-processor PowerMac G5 to my growing assembly of devices, only to have Steve Jobs switch processors from Power PC to Intel, leaving my new, extremely expensive workstation an instant antique.

So for the most part, I continued my Widows using, Apple hating ways, until something unexpected happened, the iPad. I had resisted the iPod, refused to let iTunes run on my PCs, but the new iPad had me curious.

I decided to buy one, mostly wanting to find out what they were all about. When I first got it, I began to use it and despite myself to enjoy it.

But despite the adoption of the new addition to my tech collection, I thought that soon, it would probably be replaced by an Android tablet.

Then I got a Google TV, which is runs Android and discovered that Steve Jobs really had the right idea all along, when he decided to make sure that his operating systems ran on his hardware. Google TV was and continues to be a nightmare.

I went out and bought the most cutting edge Android tablet, the oddly named Asus eee Pad Transformer Prime, which despite state-of-the-art hardware, running Google Ice Cream Sandwich, the name given to the latest version of Android for tablets, the tablet worked awkwardly, and the apps were for the most part. I sold it on eBay a week after I got it and became an Apple convert.

After turning my focus on the iPad, I found something even more surprising than my Apple switch. There has been a steady stream of new and interesting iPad apps that fit into the mindware category. The iPad is where all the cutting edge of digital media is happening now. Its an exciting time again in the history of interactive personal development,

So in the next post, I am going to feature the ten best mindware iPad apps for a variety of uses. Stay tuned for the upcoming post, The 10 Best iPad Apps for Self Improvement & Personal Development
